Jared was born December 20, 1988 in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of five his family moved to Long Island where he has been living since. He played all the typical sports that kids his age played but never really particularly felt a passion for any of them. Music and singing, however, was a different story.
It all started on a whim, a way to pass a Saturday morning. Jared tried out at a citywide audition for young Simba in the “Lion King” on Broadway. What was supposed to be just a morning, soon turned into a whole day event. They kept him until the end and subsequently for two more call backs at the casting office. Jared was 11 then, and this is where the journey began.
Jared signed on with management company, Terrific Talent
Assoc. who thought it would be a good career move to change his last name.
For the early days, he was known as Jared Verra. He did a feature film under
that name with Richard Greico and Hong Kong director Alfred Cheung called
“Manhattan Midnight”. It won best cinematography of the Philadelphia Film
Festival in 2002 and was seen in NYC in the International Independent Film
Festival 2002. What a thrill it was for Jared to see himself on the ‘big
screen'.
